February 6 2008
Go to http://www.canadaswalkoffame.com/contests/contest_nominations.xml.htm to nominate Spoons for a spot on Canada's Walk Of Fame.
Here is what I wrote:
"Spoons were the most successful and most prominent New Wave Band to come out of Canada in the 1980s. They released 5 albums and 1 EP between 1981 and 1988. The song Nova Heart was a global top 10 song and the video is still considered a New Wave Classic. They had an incredible string of top selling singles including Nova Heart, Arias And Symphonies, Old Emotions, Talk Back, The Rhythm, Tell No Lies, Romantic Traffic, Bridges Over Borders, Be Alone Tonight, Rodeo, When Time Turns Around, Sooner Or Later and Waterline. They have played on and off over the years since their last album Vertigo Tango in 1988 and on the strength of online polling at thespoons.ca released a new album in 2007 of Unreleased songs from 1983-1985 called Unexpected Guest At A Cancelled Party. The album Arias And Symphonies itself is probably one of the greatest Canadian albums of the 1980s and on the strength of it alone, they deserve to be on Canada's Walk Of Fame."
